Forecasts 2016: Where Are Markets Headed

In his 2016 Forecasts Event (held January 26th, 2016), Jonathan K. DeYoe discussed where markets and economies may be headed in 2016.

The strategists agree that a roughly 10% increase in the S&P 500 is in the cards… but, really… No one has any idea. There is a consensus view that US GDP will come in around 2.5%.

Jonathan points to the two big drags on the US last year and suggests while neither of them will probably reverse themselves entirely, there is more room for the dollar to decline and for oil prices to increase than the reverse. If either or both of these things happen, the economic consensus could easily be wrong.
